Energy Performance Rating

Landlords are you aware that from the 1st

April 2018 there will be a requirement for any property rented out in the private sector to have a minimum energy performance rating of E (EPC). Regulations will come into force for new lets and renewals of tenancies with effect from the above date and for all existing tenancies on 1st April 2020 to be compliant.

From that date it will be unlawful to rent a property which breaches the requirement for a minimum rating of E. Current regulations are in force which mean a tenant can apply for consent to carry out energy efficiency improvements in privately rented properties under the green deal.

There are exceptions to this and you can find out more information on the RICS website by following this link
